I know this news will shock many who have read my writings or who have heard me speak. Religions are history lessons on someone else’s spiritual experiences. Spirituality is your present moment. I haven’t had a religion since I left being a Catholic twenty some years ago. This does not mean that the teachings those religions were formed around should in any way be discounted as invalid. In my personal spiritual experience, I had memories of a past life where I walked with a magnificent teacher. Do you have a favorite teacher? Mine had the most aggressively antisocial religion built up around him hundreds of years after his death. Does the fact that his students strayed negate his words? I say no. I seek out commonalities in the teaching of all the teachers. I don’t judge them because religion was built up around their names. I just find the teachings that ring true for me. I decipher them and make them present day accessible. My beliefs are very simple. Here is my “profession of faith.” - We are one with our Source
- Our experience is created by our thoughts, words, and deeds.
- The pure essence of our Source is the state we call Love.
- We experience our Source by experiencing the opposite of Love which is Fear.
- We are in control of our fear.
- The physical world is an illusion made up of formless energy.
- The formless energy is the Source.
- Your consciousness and the Source’s consciousness are one and the combined awareness is the higher self.
I had a very interesting conversation today. I was perceived as a “bible thumper.” I find it an interesting thought. If in fact I am, then I am also a Bhagavad Gita thumper, a Tao de Ching thumper, a Torah thumper, a Buddhist sacred writings thumper, and any kind of thumper that will express your divinity in this present moment. I quote them all. I think it is rather naïve to ignore all the teachings of those who came before and start something new. There are truths everywhere. Turning a blind eye to potential texts because they have been used in a religion that the teachers themselves never would have formed, is like saying I am starting a new math system without adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing because they are not valid. Truth is everywhere. Use it to find your true place in the universe. Take what feels right and leave the rest, like a salad bar. “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” ~Buddha Our world is simple. You are the creator with the Source of all. What is the Source? Einstein would say it consists of formless energy. It has been called Allah, Universal Consciousness, Yahweh, God, Goddess, Mother, Father, and so on. It doesn’t matter what it is called. Nothing and no one should tell you to put power outside of yourself. Each of the teachers of old said that you have the power within and your thoughts words and deeds create your physical and emotional experience. I know that because of the past life memories I have, people expect me to have a specific belief. I don’t have that belief because of what I was taught in that life and what I have learned in this one. I Am the bare essence of me. I AM what I AM. Live now wisely educated by the teachers who came before. “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” ~ Jeshua (I John 4:4)

“Greater works than I have done you will do.” ~Jeshua Ben Joseph
An enlightened man came in service to show the Way, the Truth, and the Life you were capable of achieving. He lived with the knowledge that our world is an illusion. The laws of nature didn’t seem to obstruct him. Yet his message was that if you have faith anything is possible. The stories of his life are miraculous - walking on water, water into wine, loaves and fishes, healing the sick, raising the dead -and he said that he was the same as us. When the Romans tried to arrest him they could never find him even when they went to places where he was speaking, until he of his own choosing set things in motion for a time and place of capture. He went without struggle telling his followers his time had come.
Upon the cross he gave himself to death, “Father into thy hands I commit my spirit.” He knowingly chose to die. Yet on the third day he rebuilt the temple. I know. I saw him. I fell at his feet and he laughed. He found it amusing and helped me to my feet. He was a man who showed us our potential. “Nothing will be impossible to you.” Your life is your choosing. Have full faith that you are divine, live joyfully and create lovingly. It is the best way to honor the teacher who showed us we could. His lessons did not fall on deaf ears, it just took some time to open them. Now they are open. Now is the time to realize his teachings.
He rose. He rose to show us he could and he told us to live as he lived, in the seat of creation. Today I honor my friend, my teacher, and my brother, Jeshua. Smile, for in a smile is where he is found.
Happiest of Easters to you all ~John
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 7:35AM Apocalypse ---- Origin: 1125–75; ME < LL apocalypsis < Gk apokálypsis revelation, equiv. to apokalýp(tein) to uncover, reveal (apo- apo- + kalýptein to cover, conceal) + -sis -sis Are we headed to disaster? Are we looking at the catastrophic ending of all? Are we about to face the most fearful event that has happened to humanity? Is that what was said in Revelations? No. Let’s start with the words. As you see from above, apocalypse means revelation. What does revelation mean? Revelation --- c.1303, "disclosure of information to man by a divine or supernatural agency," from O.Fr. revelacion, from L. revelationem (nom. revelatio), from revelatus, pp. of revelare (see reveal). General meaning "disclosure of facts" is attested from c.1375; meaning "striking disclosure" is from 1862. As the name of the last book of the New Testament (Revelation of St. John), it is first attested c.1400 (see apocalypse); as simply Revelations, it is first recorded 1691. So ‘apocalypse’ means 'revelation’ and 'revelation' means basically a revealing of information from the divine. So is the revelation of St. John a prophecy for the end of the world? There is a lot in the revelation, and it has been interpreted so many times and ways. Edgar Cayce, the most famous psychic ever known, while in trance, stated, ". . . it was a road map for enlightenment." That each of the “churches” represented a chakra center. Others have interpreted it meaning things from history that have already passed, citing Nero and Napoleon. The words are mystical and are from someone trying to decipher visions of future events with a mind that had no knowledge of future technologies. Imagine if you had a dream where you saw your body disintegrate to particles and disappear. Wouldn’t that scare you? Now imagine you live in Star Trek world. It is only the transporter, something you would use frequently. The vision of it would be scary but the reality of it is not. St. John talks of Armageddon. What does that word mean?. Ar·ma·ged·don (är'mə-gěd'n) --- [Late Latin Armagedōn, from Greek, from Hebrew har məgiddô, the mountain region of Megiddo : har, mountain; see hrr in Semitic roots + məgiddô, Megiddo.] So Armageddon means the mountain of Megiddo. So the very word implies the specific place of a cataclysm. The mountain of Megiddo overlooks a valley. I have stood on the very mountain spoken of, and looked down in that valley. The valley is one of the most fought over pieces of land on earth. Generation after generation has fought on the battle field of Megiddo, including Napoleon himself. So If there were to be a fearful event in the world, the place of that event would be centralized on the mountain of Megiddo in Israel. There is a battle going on in that region today, as there has been for millenia. So here is my question to you: If the Apocalypse is a Revelation and the Revelation is a revealing of information, and the information is a catastrophe at Har Megiddo, and it has already been happening for generations, and you are still here. . . What is there to be afraid of? Make your personal experience joyful. Create a loving place, and have your own apocalypse by realizing that you are creating your experience. It is only a revelation away. Where you are is probably not Har Megiddo, so keep creating from the place within that is not focused on fearful events and prophecies that are difficult to understand because of interpretation. In the Words of my friend ,”Love one another.” Just a thought.

Mimi sent me this message on the John of Peniel guest book, and I am grateful and happy to address this issue.
"The Bible says beware of false prophets. What signs should people look for or what advice would you give to people who follow many modern day spiritualists and their messages? There are so many putting beliefs out now and some of them are are just a little incredulous."
I get accused of being a "false prophet" all the time. Usually the accusation comes from the most fearful people. I hope this helps clarify the phrase and assist in the release of fear. Releasing the fear is finding God. What is a "false prophet?" Let's look at where that phrase comes from: the book of Matthew, Chapter Seven. I am putting the entire chapter here and adding commentary on the verses so we can see how it builds to that statement.
Matthew 7 Judging Others --- 1:"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2: For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "
Verse 1 and 2 are particular favorites of mine as they state very clearly that you are the creator of your experience. What you put out you will, in fact receive.
3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. "
Verses 3-5 tell you clearly not to be selfless. It also implies that you must first help yourself before helping others, and that you are impeded until you do.
6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."
Verse 6 is a very aggressive verse with a simple meaning. If the "Kingdom of Heaven is within" and you give without regard to self, then the fears of others will fill in the spaces left vacant, and "tear you to pieces" from the inside out. The most sacred thing that each of us has is our connection to God/Source. To put your faith in someone else as your savior, which Jeshua himself said not to do so, is giving your power to someone else.
Ask, Seek, Knock 7 --- "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
Obviously verse 7 is one that I quote all the time. This verse is the one that states very clearly again that you are the creator of your experience and that all you need do is ask. So the power is in your hands.
9 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."
Verse 9 speaks clearly of the loving nature of God, and to emphasize the fact that what you ask for you do get. Again you are the creator of your experience. It also states that this is the summation of the teaching of the prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates --- 13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. "
If the Kingdom is truly within and you are the creator of your experience as the rest of the book of Matthew states, then you must look within the smallest places of self. Few find it because they are looking for the light show, when in fact, the light show starts as subtle and builds through realization of truth until you find the pathway within, the gate to the "kingdom."
. . . and Its Fruit.
15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. "
Here we have it. The "false prophets" are references to people who are looking to increase their personal power by taking yours. The entire chapter talks about you being the creator of your experience and yet we get trapped in the false prophet phrase. "By their fruit you will recognize them." Knowing that the teaching is that you are the creator and the power is within, their "fruit" would be that in some form your power must come from an external source and usually one that empowers them. Jeshua also teaches that God is Love. If some self- appointed Guru is approaching you from a place of fearful things, then they are not doing beneficial works and would therefore be false. The other interesting thing in these verses is that their power is once again set on you to realize the truth of what the "false prophet" is bringing. Again this is a statement of the kingdom being within.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' "
"The will of my father"- wow. Would a loving God who has stated time and time again that he/she is love, force you against you personal will? I believe that instead of interpreting this as a forceful act, think of this as a resonance or alignment. If God is truly love then coming into alignment with love, without fear, would be doing the "will" of God. A loving parent would hope for such. Verse 22 and 23 are ripe with fear and are used to create and instill fear all the time. Moses told us God's name was I AM. That being the case declaring anything in the name of someone else is in fact looking outside of self and and deifying a "false prophet." The verses clearly are stating again you will find the kingdom within.
The Wise and Foolish Builders --- 24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
2"8 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law."
I think that it is pretty clear what this last bit is saying. If we find the power within we will create a foundation strong enough to overcome fear and withstand the ones who are peddling fear. It also said that Jeshua taught with authority. I can tell you from my regression memories that this was true. He was a passionate speaker who told the truth, and the fruit he bore was delicious and true. Your power is within. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a false prophet.
Thanks Mimi. Thanks Jeshua.

What can I say to someone who has meant so much to me as we celebrate his birthday? Many argue over whether it was his birthday or not, but I don’t care. A day was set aside to celebrate the man and so celebrate him I will. Jeshua showed me truth. Jeshua showed me the life of promise. Jeshua showed me the way to enlightenment. It was a path that many have sought for thousands of years and yet it was always within us. Sometimes the hardest paths to find are the ones closest to home. Jeshua’s gift to us was living the life as an example to follow. We celebrate his divinity. He celebrated ours. To show us the way, he gave himself up to be tortured and killed so that he may rise again.
The circumstances of his birth are as debated as the date, but again I don’t care. He lived a life of service to us. Celebrate his life by finding your direct connection to the divine. Become the Christ within and live the way, the truth, and the life that he told you that you were capable of. Honor his name for bringing the message in his present moment and by living that life in your present moment. I thank you Jeshua for the message you brought and honor you as my friend and teacher.
I wish you all the very happiest of Christmases and most joyous of new years. I am blessed to know you all.
Thank You Thank You Thank You
Monday, November 2, 2009 at 3:00PM [Warning - some graphic content included.]I wanted to take this forum to share a bit of my dear friend Jeshua (pronounced with a soft "J" and a hint of a "y"). Modern belief is he was a somber, esoteric man who when entering a room choirs sang and lights dripped down from the heavens. He would have laughed at the concept. He was an amazing man who had a wisdom that came in his words that have spanned the ages. They have done so because he spoke the truth. I am blessed to have memories of Jeshua. He was funny, at times stern (especially when frustrated), completely loving (but he understood the difference between love and coddling). He performed amazing feats by empowering people to step into the role of creator by having a true faith in God. He spoke frequently of the fact that he was no greater than us, that we can do everything he does. His words were always fun unless he need to take a stronger attitude. He would get you laughing by joking and then slip in a spiritual truth right behind it. He relished joy and lived it daily even laughing on the way to the cross. When he was taken, his beating was more brutal than you can imagine. Though I did not see the barbed floggers of The Mel Gibson movie, I did see a whip that had beads woven in for more impact. Jeshua, during his ordeal, cried out and then would again laugh as if to say to the soldier "that was a good one." By the time of arriving at Golgotha his body was covered in a combination of dried blood and free flowing blood. They laid him down on the cross, which was on the ground. (Nailing him on the ground was the easier method for the soldiers.) As they laid him down he slid off the cross because of the sweat and blood. When they raised him up and the cross fell into the hole the jarring action made him wince. He looked at me as if to tell me that hurt and then he smiled. His eyes gazed at me and on the cross, he loved me. I felt a rush of his love fill my body. For a moment his eyes seemed larger than his head as all else faded from my sight. The sky was filled with circling birds waiting thier chance. When he died I was devastated. All I could do is hold myself up with my right arm wrapped around the base of the cross while my left reached up to touch his foot. My memories of these events are very clear. The more clear, however, is the life he lived before these events. My funny friend who spoke truth, changed John of Old and John of New - and now to honor him I will continue the work as John of Peniel and scream his message from the mountain tops.

Recently my good friend Mary Jane passed away (see earlier blog "A Tribute to Someone Special"). I went down to visit the family in their time of grief. We talked of Mary Jane, and of how she was funny, joyful, helpful, and always there. Together we decided that the best way to honor her life is to remember her joyful moments, instead of our memory being tainted with the fact that she is no longer with us, or of her dis-ease. We also decided that the part of us that Mary Jane liked most, was not mad or grieving, but also joyful and happy. We could honor her even more by representing the things that Mary Jane liked in us. So the best thing we could do for Mary Jane was live joyfully and positively.
While I was sitting there talking with Bill, Mary Jane’s husband, Diane, her daughter, and Rebecca her granddaughter, Rebecca started crying. “ I heard Grandma,” she said. We all turned to her. She is a young adult who travels the country with renaissance festivals. “What did she say?” I asked. “He says 'I come in a smile'. ” she responded. The words hit me hard in the face. “Have you ever heard that before?” I asked adamantly. “No.” For those of you who have heard me speak you may recognize the quote. Many years ago I was watching a fireworks display and was amazed as I witnessed it go into slow motion, much like what people report during events like car accidents or other traumatic moments. As I witnessed the slowed fireworks, I heard a voice: ”I come in a smile” it said. When I heard those words I knew exactly what they meant.
When we are truly happy or joyful the muscles of our face turn up the corners of our mouths. Behind that smile is a feeling. That feeling, I realized, was the same feeling I felt on the beach in Galilee when Jeshua touched me on the chest. That feeling is the truest essence of source. It is our very nature without fear. Mary Jane came back to speak these words as a message to all of us. The Source/God/Universe is Love. Her message is to live life joyfully in love, and experience the divine in your everyday life. We are as close as choice to the divinity of God. Mary Jane came back to share this simple message through her granddaughter. God Bless you, Mary Jane, and thank you for the message. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 11:03PM “There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” -John 3:1-7
Born again? What does it mean? Man has pondered its meaning for centuries. He has marveled at the esoteric meanings of the words. He has condemned others by using these words. He has used them in order to feel superior to others. The interesting thing is the man who uttered these words said in no esoteric terms whatsoever, that we should not "marvel" that he said them.
Let's look at his meaning. When we are born into this world we are in the most physical state that we ever will be in our lives. We are truly of the earth and the earth has to provide for us, without us asking. As we grow older our intellect is developed, and eventually our search for what we believe begins. Eventually we must find answers to questions that have plagued mankind. Why are we here? Is there a God? As we begin our quest for the answers many turn to science to explain, more turn to religion.
Jeshua said "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Interesting that religions have made this statement a major part of their ceremonial dogmas. In fact Jeshua never said that you should create ceremonies around being "born again." He said that you must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. Interesting he also said "The Kingdom of Heaven is within." If the kingdom is within, is he not referencing an inward journey to find the source? We were born of the flesh in a very physical way and to discover our source we must find it within.
"God is Love." This says that the very essence of the source/God/ Universe is Love and a joyful positive state. When we truly feel and express this state, it transcends pain and fear. Finding that Love within as we have been told, is the very quest we are all here to conquer. Our physical birth left us feeling separate from the source. In finding our way back, and being born into a more spiritual experience, we are truly finding the kingdom that is within.
"No one who has ever brought up a child can doubt for a moment that love is literally the life-giving fluid of human existence."--Smiley Blanton
If your life is hard, then you are expressing yourself as a person who believes life is hard. By dropping the physical experiences and the pain of seperation, you have the ability to choose a new life of love, easy, joyful love. That too is being born again, a new choice. This renaissance of self from a material world to a spiritual one will alter your perceptions and indeed your experience. Find the Spirit within and be born into a new life experience.
"Birth is the sudden opening of a window, through which you look out upon a stupendous prospect. For what has happened? A miracle. You have exchanged nothing for the possibility of everything"-- William MacNeile Dixon

"The way is not in the sky; the way is in your heart."-- Buddha
We each seek to find our way. It is in the search that find it. For in the search we find that our worldly manifestations are just representations of our words, thoughts, and actions. We are, where we are, directly due to the way we have lived our lives. In accepting the responsibility of creation, we must accept also that circumstances not to our liking are also a result of our way of living.
When we make the transition to living a loving life we do nothing but enhance the world around us, as it is a representation of our way. Avatars of old told us they lived "The Way." Their lives were lives of love and compassion. Each told us that they themselves were examples of the way. Each expressed that the outer world is created within the individual, and so the source of all is within us.
Living "The Way" is to be loving and caring and truthful. Each Prophet, Messiah, and Avatar lived "The Way." Each also lived the Truth and the Life that we are all capable of. Not only are we capable but each enlightened one asked us to live as they did. When Jeshua said "I am the way, the truth, and the life," his statement started with "the Way. " This implies that we should do as he did, because when we show someone the way we expect them to come along.
“I Am the Way,the Truth, and the Life"-- Jeshua
In coming along, our lives will be altered. We must accept the responsiblity of the creations of our life, and move towards creating new and better present moments. Each step along The Way is deliberate and loving. That being said, loving things are deliberately created in our experience. This is what I call conscious creation, the deliberate act of creating a positive life for you and those around you.
“Whatever mishap may befall you, it is on account of something which you have done.” --Prophet Mohammed
The Way does not have to be hard. In fact, The Way is really easy. Difficulties come when we focus on creating difficulties. When we focus and create love, joy, peace, then we find those aspects in our experience. Are you happy in your experience? If not, why are you doing that? If, as the avatars said, we are creating our experience, then why would you be creating anything but happy? Focus your mind on the feeling of happiness, joy, love, security, and watch your experience change. Live the way you wish to experience life.
"Without the Way, there is no going; without the truth, there is no knowing; without the life, there is no living."--- Thomas Kempis

"Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true." -- Buddha
When Sharon Prince first told me of my past life, I had an indescribable experience. It was so powerful to me, even more than the words she said. The experience was knowing the truth of it. Deep within myself I knew her words were true. This "knowing" was so profound for me that it began a real struggle with my belief system. Truth is truth - we each must judge what is our truth.
Raised Catholic, I grew up feeling guilty and afraid of hell and damnation. It didn't ring true to me and in fact, when I read the words,"God is Love", I knew them to be true. Here is where my conflict began. If God is truly a loving diety, would he want me to be fearful or feel guilty? I don not believe so. My beliefs are of a simple oneness with God. I don't ask you if this is your truth. It is mine. If your beliefs are of a different sort then great, follow your path to the divine.
I truly believe that there is only one God/ source/ universal consciousness, and we as thinking beings create our own illusions and structures around the divine. So if another illusion or structure is your truth then great. If, however, your structure or truth is such that it condemns mine or anyone else's, then I believe that that may be the place in your structure that needs examination.
"I am the Way the Truth and the Life"-- Jeshua
Many times I am condemned for my beliefs by others. I bless them along their journey to find God and wish them well. I will not condemn them for their personal beliefs. Why should I? They too are expressing their connection to source. Find the truth in your faith. If it rings true to your soul follow it, share your beliefs with others. As soon as a judgment enters your faith, then my truth meter registers in the negative, and I choose to not believe that portion of your beliefs.
Truth - what is yours? Have you defined it, or are you still searching? Then searching is your truth. In seeking you will find. You find by listening to your own intuitions. Feel the truth within and it will indeed set you free of fear, doubt, and in fact, guilt.
My truth is Love, Unconditional Love, with all of its wonderful attributes: Respect, Honor, Happiness, Caring, Kindness, and more. In the end if God truly is love then I think that staying true to the source can't be wrong.
"I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality." -- Martin Lurther King Jr.
